Telling Time – Intro

In this course, you will learn two related skills. First, you will learn to tell what time it is. Second, you will learn to say when something happens. Move slowly. The goal is not to memorize a chart. The goal is to hear and use these expressions automatically.
Two Skills
Skill 1: Tell what time it is.
- ¿Qué hora es?
- Son las ocho.
- Es la una.
Skill 2: Say when something happens.
- ¿A qué hora empieza la clase?
- La clase empieza a las ocho.
- La clase empieza a la una.
You will also see two common ways to talk about minutes before the next hour. Spanish often uses menos, as in Son las dos menos veinte. In much of Latin America, you may also hear para, as in Son veinte para las dos.
How to Use This Course
